Think swing jazz MOVES are only for swing jazz MUSIC? Oh man, do we have a treat for you! This is a single two-hour class on Thursday, March 29, 2018. No partner required! We will focus on your solo movement and how to introduce it to your partnered movement.

Express Yourself! Solo & Partnered Dancing to Fun Music

First Universalist Unitarian Church – 93 W Weisheimer Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43214
Thursday March 29, 2018
6:45 – 8:45 PM

Take a break from swing music and spread your dance wings. Binaebi Akah Calkins will use familiar solo moves from the Shim Sham line dance (and others) as our foundation to explore how to express yourself musically. She is going to play old songs, new songs, and everything in between, to encourage you to explore how a move changes based on the music.

All levels welcome, but you are encouraged to be familiar with the Shim Sham prior to attending. We will teach moves individually in class, and, if there are enough of each dance role, we will explore partnered dancing in the second half. Encourage your friends to attend so we have even numbers! This is a two-hour lesson.

Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes with good arch support, and not too much friction if you like to slide your feet. Wear comfortable clothing allowing full range of movement.

Be ready to have fun, hear some unexpected music, and sweat!

Free parking in the large lot behind the building.
