July is our yearly crash course extravaganza! Each week in the month of July, your local SwingColumbus instructors will provide special topics for you to whet your whistle and sink your teeth into new stylings and moves.

July 11th – Solo Jazz Dance with Ali Lodico & Mark Calkins
Everything in this class will be solo movement, so be prepared to test your limits and explore how you move best! No prior solo experience necessary.
July 18th – Lindy Styling with Daniel Hoy & Gail Clendenin
Are you an intermediate dancer who wants to learn the skills that will take you to the next level? You will learn a variety of moves including mule kicks, swivels, stomp offs, and kick-aways. In addition to learning the moves, you will get tips on when and where to put styling into your basic swingout so that it emphasizes the music and your own personal expression. Dancers attending this class should be comfortable doing a lindy swingout. No partner necessary.
July 25th – How to Compete with Mark Calkins & Shannon Varner
Dancers will learn how a Jack and Jill is typically run and participate in a mock Jack and Jill finals for practice. Dancers attending this class should be confident doing lindy hop moves and basics. This class is not intended for beginners. No partner necessary. Now that you’ve learned to compete, you will get a chance to show off your skills. SwingColumbus is putting on its first ever Novice Jack and Jill Competition at the August Monthly Dance! It is FREE to enter the Jack and Jill, and dancers who attend this class get FREE admission to the August monthly as well!
