May 19 – Frankie 99 Choreography
Join a global dance celebration for original Lindy Hopper, Frankie Manning! Gail Clendenin and Daniel Hoy will be teaching the Frankie 99 choreography on Sunday, May 19 from 5-7 in the Ohio Theater, room 4 (go in the side entrance in the walkway between State St. and Columbus Commons, go downstairs to Rm. 4) Dancers taking this intermediate crash course should already know the fundamentals of lindy hop (swingout, lindy circle, sendout, a few moves). Proceeds will go to the Frankie Foundation. We will perform and film this simple choreography at the Saturday night dance of CBUS 8, so don’t forget to register for that awesome event!

May 30 – Learn the Shim Sham!
We are continuing our love of all things Frankie by teaching his iconic line dance, the Shim Sham, in a special 2 hour lesson on the fifth Thursday in May! Frankie is credited for helping to spread the Lindy Hop Anthem, the Shim Sham. In fact, when Frankie passed away in 2009, just one month shy of his 95th Birthday celebration in New York, the party turned into a celebration of Frankie’s contributions to Lindy Hop. A Global Shim Sham was created, a video compilation featuring nearly 5,000 dancers from 22 countries.
